Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg will be receiving a generous donation from the RBC Foundation of $10,000 in support of the In –School Mentoring program located in 12 schools throughout the City. This program is in its fifth year of operation and provides mentors in the schools for elementary students who have been identified as needing a mentor for support, friendship and guidance.

“Our mentors had amazing energy and enthusiasm and really worked at generating ideas for activities that would draw the kids out and help build a bond.  From art projects to jewellery-making to building model cars, the mentors always had something they and the kids could work on together while they were “hanging out”.  We even had a mentor and a child who worked in the parent-child center’s community garden.” A quote from The Honorable Theresa Oswald, Minister of Healthy Living who was a former teacher & vice-principal at one of the ISM schools

“We greatly appreciate the support Royal Bank has given our program for the second time.” states Michelle Harrison, Executive Director of BBBS of Winnipeg, “Royal Bank has been a huge supporter not only here in Winnipeg but across the country in many communities that this program is provided. Our mentors and the children will benefit from this support as the money provides mentor and mentee kits, training and casework support.”
