What qualifies me to be a Mentor? Whether you're young or old, married or single, a professional or a homemaker, you can be a mentor. You don't need special training. You don't need a lot of money. All you need are your own personal reasons for wanting to help a child. Maybe you want to make a difference with one child - to show what caring means. You have much to give, and much to share with a child in need of a special friend. How old do I have to be to be a Mentor? Mentors for all of our programs must be a minimum of 18 years old, however if you are not yet old enough to volunteer as a mentor, you may want to consider volunteering at agency events and fundraising campaigns.
